A Winter Wonderland ready to Explore
So you like skiing? Alpine? Cross-Country? Or maybe off-piste? It does'nt matter, because in Nuuk you can do it all!
Bring or rent your skis or snowboard, grab a friend and the family and visit the skiing centre Sisorarfiit. The centre offers a green, red and black slope - and the black will take you on a fast, adrenaline filled rush down the Lille Malene/Quassussuaq mountain.
Cross country skiing is also very popular in Nuuk, so when you join city trail, you will meet smiling faces along side the beautiful views of Sermitsiaq, the University of Nuuk and the turf hut, Nuuk Illu. If you are more adventurous explore the trail that goes around Lille Malene/Quassussuaq -just note that it is a challenging trips not suited for beginners.
Last but not least there are high-quality off-piste skiing in the fjord of Nuup Kangerlua. Polar powder slopes are waiting for you, and they can only be reached by boat, snow mobile or helicopter. Combine your skiing trip with stays and different accommodations in the fjord and enjoy wildlife spotting, snow shoing and northern lights.

Another way to explore the winter wonderland of Greenland is snowshoing. It is basically a hiking trip in hip-deep snow without the hassle. The trips are usually to the backdrop of Nuuk on the summer hiking routes that will reveal fjord view, deep valleys and frozen lakes.
The trips can be short and intense or long and undiscovered - either way you are in for a treat that brings you breath taking views of the frozen world. Just remember to bring water, hot drinks like tea or coffee, extra food and extra clothing.
