Feel the Magic of the Dancing Light
Northern lights are a spectacular view - the river of glowing colours floating across the polar black sky like a river is truly magic. No wonder, that the Inuits believed it had spiritual powers - the reasons for it itself being the spirits of the dead playing ball with a walrus skull. And children conceived under it was believed to be extra intellectually gifted.
Scientifically thought, the northern lights are electrical particles from the sun, that explodes in colour and light when they hit the atmosphere. The colours depend of the type of particle and will most often be a radiant green - but you can also catch it in pink, white, red and blue.
How to spot it
...just go outside when it is dark! One of the other great things about northern lights is, that it is a free experience and you just have to spend you time outside - and voilá suddenly it will show up. Sometimes it will be there for hours and hours, other times it will show of for an intense 10 minute show.
So pack up your warm clothes, brew a cup of coffee and venture into the night in good company, and let the magic of the dark polar nights sweep you away.
