Medium - hard
Prepare for a one of a Kind Fight
Several tour operators offer fishing trips for fish like halibut, bog cod, redfish and of course arctic char - which is one of the most attractive fish to catch - fights and tastes amazingly. With a little more patience it is possible to hook a huge spotted wolf fish, Greenland halibut or even a salmon from the only living population in Greenland.
When you go hunting you have to remember that this is a part of the daily life in Greenland and has been throughout history. The Nuuk area offers trophy hunting for reindeer, seal and bird species like ptarmigan and eider ducks. A typical reindeer hunt is for the fit hunter, since it mostly includes a long hike in rough terrain with backpacks.
There are two ways to get to the hunting or fishing destination - by boat or helicopter.
A permission is required for both fishing and hunting. Read more on how to get a fishing license here. Please ask your tour provider for more information on licensing.
You can only go hunting with a licensed operator in Greenland - no matter the size or species of the game. Please check, that your operator has the appropriate documentation - your operator will also be able to provide you with information on importing weapons and if you will need to bring a hunting license from your home country.
